Flintridge Dressage Show, La Canada, CA, May 28 - 30, 2010
Sandra
Hansen and Mondeo took the big leap and showed Prix St. Georges at this year's
Flintridge show. Although Mondeo has shown through Intermediate I, this was
Sandra's first FEI class. In spite of more than a few nerves, Sandra rode
a clean test and scored 64%, well enough to place fifth in a very competitive
class. The next day, she rode even more confidently and moved up in the placings.
Veloz
also took the big leap to Prix St. Georges. One year after retiring Jazzman
at this very show, Donna was back in the FEI ring with a Lusitano stallion.
Veloz did a clean test, scoring 60.8%, but he is just developing the engagement
he needs to be successful at this level. As he gets stronger, his scores will
definitely improve. Exemplar was sidelined by a minor injury, so Donna decided
to take Herzsprung to the show just for the experience. Harry was a very brave
fellow, taking in the water trucks and the drags and the busy atmosphere with
curiosity but not alarm. Because he was so calm, Donna took an open spot in
training level test three on Sunday morning. Harry was the first ride of the
day but he came away with a win and the high score of the day from Sandra
Hotz. What a good boy, Harry!
